Desire versus Want | ||

I BELIEVE THIS IS AN IMPORTANT DISTINCTION. I would define the two as follows:
Been there, done that? Amen! If we have the presence of mind to see what it is we're doing, we can start un-doing it. If only we can let go of the neediness and get ourselves to a higher vibration -- by creating any sort of positive emotion -- the Universe will respond by sending us good things! Any piece of gratitude or enjoyment, any moment of happiness or love toward anything, can start to pull us out of the tomb we've been digging for ourselves. Then, if we just keep the positive vibes going, things will turn around in a remarkably short time. The key is to have enough faith to persist in being positive. Inevitably, if we've been generating negative vibes for a while, the present moment is going to look pretty dark. It's not easy to feel happy in that situation -- but it's the only way to change things for the better! The more we understand and realize that our emotional vibration is what causes the experiences -- not the other way around -- the easier it gets to take the bull by the horns! : ^ ) It becomes apparent that the underlying tone of our thoughts and feelings is crucial. Anything light and confident and optimistic -- feelings of happiness, joy, love, generosity, openness, gratitude, peace, relaxation, comfort, well-being of any sort -- these are the feelings that produce the kinds of vibrations that bring us good things. On the other hand, when we're pining away for our beloved (who couldn't care less about us), what we're really stuck on is not the beloved, but the lack thereof. And feelings of lack perpetuate the experience of lack. Imagine my surprise, on moving to Hawaii not long ago, to discover that this whole vibrational-creation thing has been known by the Hawaiians for a very long time! It's the basis of the Huna way of life. The traditional Hawaiian way of creating a high-vibrational state is through feelings of gratitude and the action of blessing things; feeling love for, and "blessing," the things you desire in your life. Actually, I believe most (if not all) traditional cultures have known this about the nature of reality; the Blessing Way ceremony of the Navajo comes to mind also as I write this. | ||
